Assuming you're referring to me (as I'm the only person to mention leaving a contract early), I don't think I have any god given right to leave my contract early, not without a charge anyway. Same boat as Daz. I think I'd be happy with an iPhone 3G v3.0 (don't need the 'S'), but not at that price. I'm paying less than the tether cost for my entire contract right now. :/

Also like MB, I want a phone that 'just works' out of box. Don't have time to fiddle with it. I've installed a total of about 2 apps on my WM phone in the entire time (two years) I've had it - and one of those is Opera, which I see as a must have. I'd love an app store.

I don't see how you can think that, people have to buy out their contracts, end of. So if they want to change it's going to cost them, I don't see anything about this "god given right".

I don't think he is refering to you, I think he's refering to the ridiculus number of people who are whinging about it over on OcUK and the like.

My Vodafone contract expires on July 25th so I can request my PAC on June 25th. That means I'll be ordering a 16Gb 3GS when they're available and will send over my PAC to O2 when I have it.

That assumes that there is no time limit on when you can give them the PAC - some Vodafone contracts have to have the PAC supplied at the time you order and they won't do the port afterwards.

I think what divine was talking about is that there are a lot of people around the internet who are complaining that they have to buy themselves out of a contract and are thinking they shouldn't have to.

What's happening is that there are a lot of selective memories. The most common thing I'm hearing is that O2 gave people who had an original iPhone a free upgrade path to the 3G model but they're forgetting that the original iPhone wasn't subsidised whereas the 3G was.

Except, O2 have ****ed that up as well! The extra charges for tethering are ridiculous, add to that the fact that the data you pay for only lasts for a month and I think it's back to vodafone for me to get mobile broadband for my netbook... Shame as it would've been nice to be able to use my iPhone to connect when out and about...

The compass is going to become very important in the future, as more and more geo programs are released. Think about something like Google Streetview which can overlay information in real time on real buildings as you pan around, thats not possible with GPS but with GPS and a compass it becomes feisable.

I think with O2 you have 2 days, I remember reading that somewhere.
