Cheers

I'm just going to keep adding little loops on each time to gradually build it up
Only mistake I made last night was to run up the steps outside Chicagos....that hurt a bit

I hope you did the Rocky celebrations at the top?

Good work on the running.

No, I didn't. I did look behind me to see if there were 100 screaming kids chasing me though

Maybe next time I'll run up the steps and then in to Chicagos....do two laps around the bar and then back out again

Well I did my Race For Life. I had stopped training beforehand as I didn't have the time. I was completely not ready for it so had to run and then walk some bits. Came away with the highly embarassing time of 40 minutes. I was expecting to do it in half the time!

Is that the 5k one? I'm still running fairly regularly and can't get under 30 minutes for about 5.5km (took me 35 yesterday including some walking). As Roberta says - you did it, that's the main thing.

I ran to the Millenium Dome and back tonight - was a bit disappointed to find out it was only 6.5k!!! Well thats the furthest I have run so far... only 3.5k less then I need to do..

6.5k in 55mins... I could have gone on but was conscious of time. This was just pacing myself too in the hot sun... didn't have music either so was damn bored!

Goodness knows how I'm going to make it to 10k!!!

Hey _dogma_, nothing wrong with 40 mins at all. Personally, I think you were ever so slightly optimistic in thinking you could do it in 20. Top female athletes run 15 minutes, so 20 is bloody quick! Well done on your time

jmc41 - Are you just sticking at 5.5km or working on increasing your distance? If you just want to stay at 5.5km but get faster, then why not incorporate some speedwork such as Fartleks into your runs? You should find that they will help and they're really easy to do. 10 mins of jogging to warm up and then pick a point around 50m ahead of you and sprint to it, then jog for another ~50m. Repeat a few times and then 10 mins cooldown. It really does work.

How's it going BBx? When's your race again?

I've had a couple of weeks off because I've been on holiday. Managed to go for a 6k(ish) run whilst I was there, but that was it. We did do lots of walking though, so I haven't been sat on my arse for 2 weeks. Back into things this week as I have a 10k in 2 weeks. Not looking for a PB because it's RFL and it'll be busy but I still want it to be less than 1 hr. After that, I need to start increasing my distances for my Half Marathon in October. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things
