Traditional Tandoori restaurant:
Popadums + sides Lamb byriani or jalfrezi If the latter simple plain boiled rice Naan or Peshwari naan Brindal Bhaji Bhindi Bhaji Tarka Dhaal Saag Paneer Bangladeshi restaurant: all of the above but as a main i'd have Lamb Rezala Funny thing is the best curry I ever had (apart from at Piali's house) was a Gujurati restaurant which is entirely vegetarian as they are typically the "tight" region of India and don't really eat meat either (I am joking about the "tight" it's just what the Bengali's call them). My favourite curries are from the East or South Indian region, though strangely the Gujurat region is West - the style of cooking is so wildly different though it's fascinating. Traditional Eastern/Southern curries include a lot of fish - and actually having tried it, it's bloody marvellous but never my first choice strangely - lamb IMO offers the best texture and flavour for a curry, though I'd have fish over chicken. Fish and lentils are the staple for East Indians and boy they do it and do it good! Telapia and Dhal are probably the best dishes in the world - but I seldom have them in restaurants as they never seem to be quite up to muster (so far).

I had chicken korma and pilau rice plus the obligatory poppadums and naan. It was either that or go and buy BBQ stuff. Decided that curry was less hassle and a BBQ would probably end up costing as much anyway |

Well i'm rather proud of myself for not ordering a curry. Man it was close but i've decided to wait until friday.
Currently my favourite curry is the balti chicken delight from our local house. Though you can't go wrong with either a korma or dupiaza.
