This seems to be true of the US in general. My boss (East Coast) has made the same comment. He's been educated both in the British curry experience and in cooking them himself. It's very rare he doesn't end up in a curry house when over here (often several times).

I like to try different stuff but I really like Dhansak - either lamb or prawn. Usually just have some chapatis with it.
