I kinda went a bit nuts after starting this thread. It wasn't helped by being introduced to a piercer who's PC kept breaking and would give me a free stab if I fixed it

Nice! Was looking at getting a scaffoldy thing but all I can remember from getting my other ear cartilage done is the pain and the length of time it took to heal! I did get it pierced first with a hoop which I realise was kinda silly. Was also a BCR so I couldn't even change it myself!

Got my lip done not that long ago and I'm sure when it heals I'll be looking for something else to get done! It's all so addictive and expensive

Yeah my piercer is awesome! They have all healed so well compared even with getting them done at registered places.

I was able to sleep on all the other cartlidges within about 3 days. The scaffold takes longer but she did it with PTFE which is like flexable plastic. After about 6 weeks, you can change it to proper metal and it's fine. It was still the most tricky but it's worth it. I've just changed it with a slightly shorter bar so it fits pefect now. You obviously want a slightly longer one to begin to account for any swelling.

You should be able to change BCRs by the way. I change them all the time. The trick is to do it by feel of the dimples rather than trying to do it an a mirror.

The really fiddly ones are complete segment rings like I've got in my nose. They take ages!

I had my lip pierced about 4 years ago and it healed pretty sharpish with a labret stud in - although I did buy a bioplast retainer for work which I used in the first month or so which in comparison to others I know rapidly sped up the healing process.

I gather it's dependant upon the person and their reaction to the different materials however, having a good piercer makes the largest difference- when I had a tongue piercing the guy was a bit of a plonker and angled incorrectly leading to a small split in my tongue - that took some time to heal

They're all gone now due to professional commitments that such appearance would cause grief to, due to being in the mouth they will have almost certainly healed over anyway

If I got free piercings I'd probably have a lot more too
