Definately. I can't stand it when people get up on a high horse about something that has nothing to do with them whatsoever.

Today's great annoyance: THE IDIOT PROTESTOR ON THE NEWS!!!

Some architecture graduate was protesting about there not being any jobs in the industry since she graduated and how it's all the government's fault.

Apparently since graduating in May she hasn't had any luck and never even gets to interview and 'the government are to blame' and so she's gone on JSA.

As an Architecture graduate I know damn well how difficult it is to get a job within an industry that is suffering due to the financial situation, however this is not the excuse for not being able to get a job.

Arch.A jobs are EXTREMELY competative, with tens, if not hundreds, of candidates going in for each position within a company.

Jobs are more highly prized with many graduate schemes being cut back/halted but the industry is still flowing, albeit slower, it still has work and still requires employees of various skills, experience and specialisms.

Jobs are available but maybe not the exact job you're looking for! the majority of my alumni have had to make sacrifices due to the situation- commuting further to work than originally planned, working part-time at several practices, taking a slightly different role within an organisation to originally planned, or moving horizontally within the industry, working for civil/structural engineers, surveyors, construction management, CAD technician work etc.

My graduate placement scheme was cut and I couldn't find immediate work in the originally planned role, therefore I took on undesirable yet money-earning part-time work whilst I created my own business in the industry. This I have now cultivated to the stage where it requires my attention and efforts full-time and *fingers crossed* will provide me with enough moneys until I return to complete my final stages of educational study.

If this girl has not even been invited to interview with anyone in 5 months then that suggests to me that a) she isn't applying to enough or the right firms b) she is being too fussy with her applications c) she is not good enough/does not have a sufficient set of skills/portfolio to allow the practices to offer her a place.

I do understand the climate is very difficult. I do accept that jobs are very hard to find. But I do not accept that someone cannot get any job whatsoever in 5 months, blames the government entirely for this, and instead of putting greater effort into a search is spending her time protesting in the streets.

/end of lengthy rant

Absolutely. The day the media suddenly decided en masse that interviewing members of the public about complex financial issues (or, for that matter, social issues, legal issues, or anything that requires some understanding of the subject) instead of actually reporting the facts was a bad day for the news.

When I see people saying how they can't get any job it annoys me. (this is obviously exempt to people with specific situations i.e. disabled/unavoidable comitments)

Every week in our local paper alone there are hundreds of jobs for immediate starts but people don't want to be cleaners/care-workers/call centre colleagues etc.

There's a huge difference between not being able to find a job and not being able to find a job you want.

That may be so, but those employers wouldn't want to employ someone who doesn't have the experience - it works both ways at the moment.

I wish, all I've got is a card off the Chief Constable saying I'm designated with the powers of a constable and my cutting sarcasm. (That's better than pepper spray!!)

Motorcyclists who cant understand why I might get a bit irate when I have sat in a queue of traffic for 20 minutes, and then they come weaving through and expect to pull in front of me at the traffic lights.

Still frigging annoying though, it was just the way he had obviously weaved his way from the back of the queue, and then just expected me to let him in, he didnt even look to see if I would mind or anything.

He was on the receiving end of a beep from my car horn, at which point he stuck two fingers up at me like the lovely considerate man that he was.

I know it is annoying and agree with you. My beef is when I forget to check the motorcycle lane and then get abuse because they were filtering through the traffic.
