Gameplay was always good for me with pre orders but to be honest. I doubt i'll ever pre order again. Seeing supermarkets selling the likes of Fifa 10 for £24 on the day of release just puts me off getting stung by pre ordering like a lot of people did.

Yeah, I guess. But I can't really moan at £40 for an LE edition.

Sigh, Blockbuster declined my card apparently because it's a Visa Debit and not a Visa Credit. Looks like I'm ordering from elsewhere but unfortunatley it's not going to be the LE as I don't want to fork out £60.

Play is definitely at the will or royal mail, I've pre-ordered stuff within seconds of someone else (from the same computer...) from play and it's gotten to me 2-3 days before him despite sending on the same day. And given RM doesn't appear to like turning up to work at the moment I wouldn't count on them.
That said, they (play) don't appear to be following their "normally despatched within 24 hours" guidelines for non pre-orders at the moment. |

Just to throw another into the mix.
Because of a 10% one day only special deal both Daz and I pre-ordered Halo ODST from Lovefilm (shop). The release date was Tuesday 22nd and I got mine on the Saturday before, and Daz on the Friday. |

I personally would never pre-order a game from Play.com, I've had too many bad experiences in the past, including one where a game turned up a week past the release date. That was several years ago to be fair but since then I've never trusted them. Great prices, unreliable delivery service. Gameplay have always been absolutely spot on, in fact with the 30 or so games I've pre-ordered from them, not one of them has turned up late, with the vast majority (about 25 or so) arriving at least the day before release. If I want something on the release date guaranteed, I'll order from them, every time.

Just to let you know, Game have now reduced express delivery from £5.00 to £2.95 because of the royal mail strikes. Choosing paid express will beat the strikes!

Shopto.net, Game and Gameplay I find to be consistently great. Play have been fairly awful in my experience, I'd never rely on them to get something to me for release day.
