Xbox 360 -> Netgear router -> XP
Folks,
I'm currently tearing my hair out, trying to get my xbox and PC to talk to each other. My Xbox doesn't show in media sharing, and it can't see my PC. As far as I can tell, my netgear router has the port forwarding set correctly. Both machines can access the internet fine. Firewall has been disabled (as a test), with no luck. I'm at a loss, and networking really isn't my think.

What does the network test on the console say about things?
Funnily enough none of my PCs reported anything media sharing related until I kicked the media sharing off (from the console), and now they all do it. I did download some media sharing software on one of the PCs though. Don't know if that had anything to do with anything. |

Network connection is fine. The PC connection part of the test lasts about 1/10th of a second, and just says "PC: Failed".
What a pain in the bum. I used to have a direct link between my Xbox and PC, and that worked fine.

Are there any guides on the MS site?
I've found their guides for other networking issues to be very comprehensive and easy to follow, might be something about getting media sharing with a 360 to work.

Turn off any port forwarding you've done for this, it doesn't affect internal traffic. Can you ping the xbox from the pc?

What Daz says - port forwarding only affects Xbox Live, so you'll lose that when you do turn off port forwarding, but for the test it's worth doing.
