Moon

Utter brilliance. Guessed the twist about 10 minutes before it was revealed, but it so wonderfully done I didn't care.

Looks spectacular on a 60" screen too.

I do wish people wouldn't mention twists in movies. It means you *know* there's a twist, so you're waiting for it. Grrrr *shakes fist*

Yeah. Reminds me of Sixth Sense being advertised as having a twist, not even word of mouth, it was KNOWN to have a twist. So I watched the advert for the first time, saw Haley Joel Osmond say "I see dead people" to Bruce Willis, turned to my friend and said "Bruce Willis is dead then", turned out I was right. Never bothered watching the film after that.

It's become a real trend of the last decade or so really. Although no one has over-done them like M Night Shyamalamalamalam (and his best film is definitely Unbreakable).

This reminds me of Jen's experience of this film.

She sat down with her Auntie and Grandma to watch this when Grandma turned round and asked all "Is this the one where he's dead?".

Mankind has been exterminated, massacred Terminator style by an AI that has been turned evil by a dictator.

9 little .. umm .. things made out of what look to be burlap sacks have been created and given life. We follow the story from the viewpoint of number 9, the last one to be created who wakes up an unspecified period of time after the rest and finds himself alone in a dark post-apocalyptic world.

Whilst he was only a producer, it seems to me that Tim Burton's finger prints are all over the film. It may be that the director has just as dark an imagination as Mr Burton, but it just feels so much like one of his. There are a few well known actors providing voices to the characters and they're all animated in a believable and natural way.

The story is pretty good and well put together but I thought overly short. The movie weighs in at barely over an hour and a quarter. In many regards it felt like it was over and done with way too quickly. I think I'd have been pissed if I'd been seeing it in the cinema, but as a netflix rental it hasn't cost me all that much.

I'd say it's worth a watch, but it ain't all that.
