Ok, how about the Patriot? 16K quid brand new, 31/37mpg. Sorry to keep pushing the Jeeps, but they're what I'm familiar with. I haven't been impressed with any other SUV/Estate for years other than the Jeeps.

And if you're able to get close to 12K for the MINI, the extra 4K purchase price for the Patriot would mean one hell of a lot of miles in petrol to make up the cost of anything else I've seen listed.

is that 31/37 US mpg or UK mpg?

The thing is Darrin for the 16K MB could get a vehicle which could return 45+ maybe even into the 60s depending if he went for an oil burner.

The Kuga I suggested returns a combined 44mpg and he'd be looking at 52 on long journeys

I'm not turning into Fox, honest but have you looked at the Mondeo recently? I've been in two in the last few months, both oil burners and both top of the range (Titanium X) and they're really nice. I thought the build quality seemed very good, they're huge with a massive boot and they were both good to drive and they were loaded with every kind of gadget and toy you can think of. And they're not Datsuns

My boss' dad has a mondeo and it's really nice inside

MB doesn't want an estate though

Despite the fact that the Mondeo is a very good car and with the hatch boot it would do the job I'm just not a Mondeo guy. I suppose if I was the kind of guy who made the sensible choices I wouldn't be driving a MINI now

I'm with you on this one. The current Mondeo is a superb car - if you go for the high spec ones - lower spec just look pretty dismal inside.

I was thinking about the Toyota Corolla Sport, but looking at the boot it looks abit on the small side, but I have just seen this and thought I would suggest it to you.

TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO 2.0 D-4D T Spirit. Has seven seats if you need it, but it mainly a 5 seater, with a big boot and all the mod cons.

Ok, I'll be quiet now. I was thinking the UK prices for the QashQai were in the 30K range. But I just looked them up and realized they were comparably priced to the Patriot. So I agree. The Jeep would be a horrible choice.
