Default Internet overuse leads to depression

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/811525-i...or-web-addicts

'If people are addicted, it can affect a person’s ability to perform at work or they may be failing to do chores so they can go online.’

This is true - I'm going back home to a sink full of washing up and hoovering!

Thats the first thing I wondered, are people spending lots of time on the internet because they are trying to escape crappy lives, or because they have nothing else to do/don't feel like doing anything else because they are depressed?

Internet bad for me too - laziness and depression.

I was doing quite well during my absence - usually in bed by 11 and mostly awake during the day. Quite clear what I need to do then (and that doesn't mean leave again).

Aye, it's something I noticed years ago but instead of the the internet, substitute e.g. an addictive drug.

I think it's going to get worse now tbh, fewer and fewer people use it as a tool which is what it is and instead start revolving their lives around it.
