iPhone, iPod Touch or iTunes are your best bets for searching the appstore

Apple's App Store is the only 'closed' environment - you have to use their software to access it. iTunes is a necessity for the iPhone anyway so that's not a big deal.
Most of the other app stores (Windows, Android, Palm) can be searched by other means (e.g. Cyrket). |

You'll not find anything on iBluetooth....because it has become iBluenova and will in the cydia store shortly
Here's a decent thread on it... http://xsellize.com/showthread.php/8...th-app-for-3-x

And even then it's only usable if the phone is jailbroken. It's on the unofficial Cydia store, not the official App Store.

Thanks. I was reasonably sure that this wasn't possible on even a jailbroken iPhone, and definitely impossible on a standard one, but I was assured by a couple of iPhone owners that there were several apps that would perform this function. It seems that until the iBluenova app appears then there's no way to do what my friend is trying to do.

If there was any other way to do it, I'd be doing it by now
What others are saying is possible now is only with a few certain apps and only from iPhone to iPhone. iBlueNova is now ready. It's all packaged up and just waiting to be integrated in to the cydia store.

Don't you think that its a major flaw to the phone that BT can't be used for anything other than an audio connection (speakers or earpiece) without downloading other apps.....and even then its with limited functionality. |

No, it's not a flaw in the hardware. It can be used for that purpose (otherwise iBlueNova would never have happened). However, Apple made a choice that they don't want you to do this (along with quite a few other things that they don't want you to do). Try getting a vaguely open Bluetooth stack on to the App Store and you'll hit a brick wall - that's why it's gone to Cydia.
