The highest anyone got was 306 (i think, maybe 307) so no one got enough to have the majority of seats, meaning they can't just assume power as there are more people against them than for them (in simple terms) and so some deals need to be done to try and sort it out until it is either agreed the winning party can rule ok even without a majority of seats or two parties join forces to get enough seats.
