Live streaming a football game

I've been asked to look into how we might be able to stream a football game. I've never really done any streaming but I just took a guess that you'd need a video camera hooked up to a 3G enabled laptop with a UStream account.

Would that work?? or is there a better/easier way?

Exactly that way, and you could use different services (UStream/Veetle/Justin), although my preference for watching is most definitely Veetle.
