What's the error in? IntelliType?

If so:
  • Create directory C:\ITP.
  • Download install to this directory.
  • Open (administrator) command prompt.
  • C:\ITP\exe-name /X:C:\ITP\Install
  • C:\ITP\Install\Setup
Or you could:
  • Open (administrator) command prompt.
  • net use * /d
  • Try the install as normal.

well as with a lot of MS installers its obviously compressed, so does the usual extraction, and then at the point you would expect to see the installer screen, the error occurs.

I'll have to give that a go next time I'm using it. thanks

Maybe a corrupt installer? Clear the update cache and try again?

done a cmd extract which works but doesnt create the install dir

C:\Windows\system32>C:\ITP\Install\Setup
The system cannot find the path specified.

C:\Windows\system32>net use * /d
There are no entries in the list.

Don't recall having that problem, but you could try creating the directory first.

Failing that, let me know which download you're using and I'll unpack/re-pack as a .zip (assuming you can open those).

There are several versions and not all of them get offered, depending on how you get to the page.

Make sure you've downloaded the right one. If your exact OS isn't offered, you haven't (I got caught out too). Also there are now different versions for USB and PS/2 connections.
