Iron Monkey
Starring
8/10 Great martial arts film involving some of the folk heroes of China, however it's not the epic in scope that some of Jet Li's later films are so if you're not a fan of martial arts films it's unlikely to offer anything new for you. Liar, Liar Starring
6/10 It's Jim Carrey overacting again but it's a reasonable way to pass the time.

The Assassination of Richard Nixon
This was brilliantly performed by Sean Penn in what I think was equal to his performance as Harvey Milk. The film is loosely based on events surrounding Samuel Byck and charts the loss of his loved ones, career and therefore sanity. 8/10

The Tourist
I liked this, despite lots of focus on Angelina's lips.... Good mix of funny and serious, and an interesting ending. 8/10

Make sure you don't read anything about it! I reviewed it in this thread - very good but weird.

Inception
I'm going to go against the grain on this one but I've not been so disappointed in a film since the last overhyped film that I subjected myself to. To be fair the cinematography, sound track and SFX were very, very good but that doesn't make up for a film that was easily 30 minutes too long (they could have cut 20 minutes if they didn't keep on showing that van falling off the bridge) with what I considered to be a pretty dull plot, clever for the sake of cleverness. Worth watching for most people but I wouldn't go in expecting anything particularly ground breaking. 6/10 SALT Trashy action/thriller where Angela Jolie pretends that her ample bosom isn't the only reason we watch her films. Action scenes are suitably action packed and the thriller scenes, well the less said about them the better. Not a bad way to waste a couple of hours but be prepared for an utterly ****e ending. 5/10 The Expendables I knew this was going to be crap going in so I wasn't expecting much and it managed to deliver. Bad (but not in a good way) action film that tried to be a parody of itself and failed badly IMO, shame as I really wanted to like it. 3/10 The A-Team As above I was expecting very little from this film but unlike above I loved it. Action packed, very silly and clearly doesn't take itself seriously. 7/10 The Other Guys I'm starting to wonder if Will Ferrell turns down any film roles as this is another clanger that he's recently appeared in, it feels very strange after some of the true classics he has appeared in, not to mention staring in and Producing stuff like Eastbound and Down. Anyways, I was so bored by this film that I switched off halfway through and trust me that takes some doing 2/10 |

Pulp Fiction
Starring
9/10 I'm not even sure if there's much point in doing a review, I hadn't seen it for a while and just wanted to remind myself how good it was/is. I'd imagine pretty much everyone here has seen it by now but if you haven't then it's well worth the time doing so. It's not as taut as Reservoir Dogs perhaps but it's much better than some of his later films in terms of sharpness where he seems to have forgotten to edit anything much out.
