What state is the 'failed' drive in? Nasty horrible clicking, or just unreadable?

RMA'd and a replacement is on the way... It wasn't coming up in the installed SCSI drive list during POST, so it wasn't communicating with the system at all. The Sumsung diagnostics tool couldn't pick the drive up for testing. In windows, it wasn't listed. Scan have verified the fault today. I bought another replacement anyway and that works fine. I enclosed a covering letter to Scan/Samsung asking if they could retrieve the data.. but I doubt they will do anything.
