Default Need a second opinion on my wheel

Just noticed this a minute ago:

Any problems besides it looks crap?

Just need to know whether I need to get it sorted or whether it'll be alright for a bit longer

If your just talking about the wheel hub, then it is most likely perfectly fine. if the wheel rim underneath has a bend in it then it isn't but I VERY much doubt that the actual wheel is harmed. You can leave the cover as it is, until it looking not its best annoys you

I'll check for a bend in a minute
I'm not too bothered about it looking crap as the rest of the car is hardly much to look at Just didn't want to try to find a garage round here just yet.

As it's just the trim - pull it off and bin it.

If the wheel underneath is damaged though, it may be reparable, but as it's a steel rim it's probably not worth it. Replacement ones from people upgrading will probably only be a few quid.

So....what have you been driving into?

Stop kerbing your wheels

That's just the plastic hub trim - unless you jolted hard into something - which it doesn't look like I doubt there is much damage.

Judging by the small amount of damage to the trim, I'd be surprised if there is any damage to the rim but it would be wise to check it anyway - just in case.

It always amuses me to see wheel trims, which are supposed to make the wheels look better, held on by cable ties - you'd think the manufacturers could find an effective method of keeping the damn things on without ruining the look of them.
Then again, I suppose it's not in their interests to do so - the more of them which fall off, the more they'll sell

I was about to warn you about how dangerous it was to drive with an alloy wheel in that sort of condition and how that whole chuck of wheel could come away causing a high speed blow out.

Then I noticed they were plasitc wheel trims

Weird thing is I can't remember the last time I kerbed it :undecided:
And I'm sure I checked it before I went to Nottingham at the weekend and it was fine then.
Strange.
