Worth it though for Mila Kunis.
Who was Mila Kunis?

Black Swan
I think your review is spot on and questionable why it was a 15 cert :/

Was a good film and Portman acts amazingly but totally ****ed up!

7/10

Gnomeo & Juliet in 3D.

7/10. Not Toy Story but not meant to be and nothing like as bad as some of the critics are making out. Funny & cute. Decent way to pass some time and the little kids in front of us (aged about 3) were quiet all the way through. One of the 'adults' we were with () laughed like a drain at one part and I didn't think she was ever going to stop!

Have done a proper review which I'll link to when I've blogged it.

The Tortured Details 2010

Quote:
The perfect marriage of Craig (Jesse Metcalfe - Desperate Housewives) and Elise Landry (Erika Christensen - Six Degrees, Flight Plan) is suddenly shattered when their young son is abducted and murdered. When the killer (Bill Moseley - Halloween, The Devil's Rejects) is brought to trial, he manages to plea bargain his way to a lighter sentence. Utterly outraged by this miscarriage of justice, the grieving parents decide to take matters into their own hands.

They capture the murderer, imprison him and subject him to the same monstrous acts he perpetrated upon their defenseless child. The unforeseen consequences, however, challenge their ideas of vengeance, justice and the true nature of evil.

Pretty much what you would expect from such a film, it wont win any rewards but it's entertaining enough to make it a worth while watch.

Piranha 2010

When a tremor in Lake Havasu, Ariz., cracks the lake floor open, a prehistoric strain of piranha are set loose and people begin to disappear.

It's a teen disaster movie, lots of scantily clad ladies and often funny blood/death scenes. Not worth watching unless you enjoy this genre as a time waster. Expect it to be on SyFy channel within 12 months.

The Invention of Lying

I like Mr Ricky so figured I had a good chance with this one! I'm sure you all know the synopsis of it as such but it's based on a chap who is regarded as a bit of a saddo who lives in a society where no one has ever been able to lie... and then one day he miraculously gains the ability to do so.

If you take it at face value it's an okay film. I did laugh a couple of times out loud - particularly at the beginning - but really I just kind of switched off. In fact, I watched it over two nights, I wasn't even that fussed over it and only watched the second half whilst waiting for a friend to turn up.

I know what it was getting at and all films have flaws but a more suitable title would have been "The Invention of Lying and Having the Ability to Not Have Tourettes and State The Obvious All the Time"

Disappointed.

3.5/10

The Machinist

Christian Bale plays an INCREDIBLY scarily stick thin chap who works in a factory as a machinist (funnily enough ) and is suffering from insomnia.

I'm not quite sure on this film. I think I watched it through morbid fascination on how utterly skinny Christian Bale was. To me it seemed kind of obvious what was going on and I don't think it was trying to be clever and hide it... or may be it was? I don't know. This is the problem... I'm not sure what I was supposed to think through out the film.

It's not confusing... just... I didn't know if I should kind of see where it was heading or not.

It's interesting. I would say a poor comparable to Memento if I'm honest. Great acting as always though and brilliant set design throughout if you're into that kinda thing. Wouldn't watch it again, felt it was quite slow.

5/10

The Fighter

Mark Walberg and Christian Bale in this one. Kind of a modernised Rocky style film. Boxer and Brother help train up to fight, Brother is an ex fighter with a nasty addiction. Apparently based on a true story - would be interested to read up on who it was all about (excuse my nativity in boxing if it's someone well known!)

Great acting, superb characters, fantastic sets, sturdy plot. It is very stereotypical fighter film, but it's probably one of the better ones I've seen!

Thoroughly enjoyed, made me laugh a fair few times too and had me saying a few "oooo"s and "aaaaaaahooowach"s noises whilst watching fight scenes!

7.5/10
