I sometimes accept read receipts and sometimes don't, that doesn't mean anything about whether I've taken in the message. I'm more likely to vary my acceptances if I'm constantly getting read receipt requests from someone on unimportant emails though.

Pople who, because they managed to connect their laptop to their home hub, suddenly think they are IT experts and that they can go off and procure their own enterprise solutions without needing any input from IT... STOP IT, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, FFS!!!

In a similar vein, the geniuses who create a home network, assign static local IP addresses to their laptops (for reasons unknown), then turn up angry that their computer won't connect to the uni wireless.
Oh, and then tell us that if their home network doesn't work any more because we 'fixed' the problem they'll be right back to let us know.

I'm with you on that, but I do agree with SPW that you should be able to say "go away for now read receipt box, ask me next time I open this email" I generally click no to read receipts because I want to scan an email but don't want to acknowledge that I'm actually doing something about it just yet (which in my company read receipts tend to be)

you can preview it ~ if you dont actually click to open it, you can preview the contents without triggering the read receipt.

Eating scrambled egg on toast and all the egg falling off the toast as you lift it towards your mouth.
