I'm with Divine on this one. Grandpapa, or even Grandfather as a form of address, would potentially be affecting airs and graces, but Grandpa is ok.
As has been said, it's maybe not that usual over here, but not so unusual as to be pretentious. |

Just thought it was another name for "Grandad"
Never knew mine both of mine, but refer to dad's dad as Grandad in photos etc. BB x |

When I refer to my parents or grandparents (i.e. when I'm not addressing them) I call them, my mother / father / grandfather / grandmother.

I always called both sets of mine Nan and Grandad..
My boys call my parents Nanny and Grandad and the Wifes mum Grandma |

I don't think it is our choice on what we call our grandparents/ parents. We were all brought up with how they wanted to be called, so I don't think it is pretentious whatever people call family members, just means that is what they preferred
My Mom's side is Grandad and Grandy and my Dad's side is Oma and Opa because they are German.
