I LOVE Harry Brown! Love Sir Michael Caine in it, Plan B ain't so bad I thought either. I saw it in the cinema when it was out (wow good few years ago now reminiscing...) maybe that helped but it hit the spot perfect with me... Love End Credits too just before I saw Chase & Status as well

The Time Travellers Wife
Hmmmm... interesting film, full of paradox and thought provoking. Amusing in some areas, heartbreaking in others. Good acting and nicely shot. I just felt that a few areas were not so well explained and a few avenues were not well explored (although that could have been to avoid the usual time travel cliches). I did have to explain a few parts to Sue as she didn't "get it" initially. I'll give it a decent 7.5/10 It just needed a little more explaination in parts and the tying up fo a few loose ends to make it, imho, an excellent film. |

Hostel 3.
Usual sick ****, Seemed quite arty in a strange kind of way & was a little more drawn out than the first 2. Well worth a watch if you like some sick gore type action. |

I can see how some could view it quite disturbing.

I found Harry Brown sensationalist nonsense personally and very overrated. It is very depressing but it feels like something a Daily Mail reader would write! I say that with the slightly bizarre 'honour' of regularly visiting tower blocks much like that in London years ago and being stuck in one during a riot outside until the police brought it under control Still felt over the top to me but in a dangerous sort of way that means you know some idiots will mutter how youths are actually all like that. Certainly saw some strange people at Blockbuster who thought it reinforced their views :/

Well executed (pardon the pun) comic book sillyness.

J Edgar Hoover.
Complete garbage & I was hoping for good things after enjoying Gran Torino that much I bought it. Decaprio as Hoover always bothered me but watching it is a Nightmare, The Lad can't raise his voice without falling back into that teenage high pitch crap which is just not Hoover. The story portrayed of Hoover is even more Garbage & they touch on his perversions in such a watered down way the whole film loses any validity. The whole film just brushes who he was & what he was about. Even the make up is crap & the main actors are left looking like comic plastic men. I honestly cannot remember the last time I watched such a complete an utter load of crap. Completely dissapointed in Eastwood I didn't think he would make such a weak film. |

I'm actually not sure if I enjoyed it or not! A decent storyline, good concept, fairly predictable though. I'd go 5/10.

Alice in Wonderland (the Tim Burton one!)
Lewis Carrolls books are my favourite, and I enjoy the films too. This wasn't what I was expecting, but I think it was well done and had excellent characters. I wanted to stroke the Cheshire cat, he was so fluffy! The usual stuff was wrong (uses bit from the Looking Glass as well, and merged the red queen with the queen of hearts) but I enjoyed it. 8/10 Hall Pass I liked the usual American comedy funny bits, but generally the concept made me a bit squeamish and it was horribly generalistic and sexist. 6/10 for the comedy.
