The fact that in my car, volume level 13 is pretty much spot on for how loud/quiet I want it, yet due to my irrational dislike of the number 13, I either have to force myself to have it slightly too quiet on 12, or a bit too loud on 14

I also have to deliberately not look at the microwave clock when it's counting down, in case I see the number 13

Um, what is the correct term?

People who publicly chase folk up about whether or not they got the text/email/PM sent to them earlier. Likewise for those who announce to the intended recipient that they've been sent an email etc.

I'd just like to say it doesn't bother me if people say "tenterhooks" or "tender hooks", I was just saying that the scriptwriters and editors of Countryfile should have picked this up and "corrected" it. I suppose it's sloppy editing that annoys me. I get lots of things wrong when I write, but if I was a script editor for a mainstream TV show I'd consider it my responsibility to be check sayings, colloquialisms, slang and such before I passed the script for broadcast.

Sometimes it's the only way to get a response/highlight that there is a problem with that member of staff (if this is a work related issue)

I have a person at work that never replies to emails or requests and their boss doesn't care about it and just defends her so I have to raise my concerns to other members of staff
