Cybersquatters have jumped on a domain, anything I can do?
I had a domain for about 5 years, it expired and because it was bought through a friend of a friend of a friend it wasn't renewed this year as I lost contact with them.
I've been keeping an eye on it waiting for it to fully expire, it's been a week or so since I checked and I just checked and it's been taken. This domain is of no use to anybody whatsoever except me. The only reason it can have been registered is to try and make money out of it. Do I have any right to this domain? The domain is mb7uiv.co.uk. The mb7uiv is a radio callsign issued to me and me alone and can be of no use to anybody else, it's exclusively mine. I'm really pissed off about this. I want my damn domain back

Edit: misread the domain name. Re-checking.
You could go through the Nominet dispute procedure, but unless you can show a very good reason, I doubt you'd have a leg to stand on, especially as you're not the original owner of the domain. Money-grabbers. Really annoy me. I'm glad I managed to snipe a domain under similar circumstances before they got it. PS - if you can live with the change, mb7uiv.me.uk is free. Well the original domain was registered against my name.
And I wonder what is 'very good reason'. I operate the first licenced UK<>Internet amateur radio gateway, with the callsign mb7uiv issued on behalf of the DTI. It means nothing else to anyone on the planet. My name was against the original domain. I'm really really annoyed....

I've been through the nominet site and I have a valid complaint. I've used the contact form on the site that's there to ask for them to transfer ownership, quoting nominet policy and explaining which bits of it they've broken.
I have documentary proof of the callsign. It's mine. I will get it.

Good luck getting it sorted.
I seem to remember saying that I'd put a domain renewal on my credit card for you as you were having problems finding a company who would take paypal. Did you get it sorted or is this the domain in question? |

I did find one burbs, but it was quite expensive.
This all started today because I started writing a thread on here to ask if anyone could do .co.uk registrations, I went to check my old one (which I've been doing every week or so) to find it re-registered. Hence thread content deletion and re-write as you see here. Beaners, I'll bear that in mind

I don't mind doing them at cost either, though I'd imagine Beansprout probably has a cheaper option up his sleeve.

I offer them at £6.99 for a standard 2-year registration, which after transaction fees is pretty much cost price...offhand I'm not sure of anyone doing below-cost-price (£5 + VAT) selling and who accept Paypal
