Default Help! Graphics card required

Well, last night there were two loud cracks, about half an hour apart, from the general direction of the kids' computer. After replacing various bits, it turned out that the PSU had gone tits up and taken the graphics card with it

The PSU is sorted, but the emergency Ti500 won't play a couple of their games, so has anyone got a similar spec card to the dead Ti4800SE? Hopefully for not too much of the folding stuff if possible.

Thanks guys

Sorry I can't help with providing a graphics card but if you could find a 9700pro or similar then that would be an admirable replacement and shouldn't cost more than about £35 even if you have to pay full price(secondhand) although £25 is more common. There appears to be a couple for sale on OcUK MM. Good luck.

Sorry mate, the best unused card I have lying around is a Radeon 7000 which probably would be no better than your Ti500

I used to have a 4200ti but I sold it to someone in a similar situation to yours.

I bet there are loads of Old cards laying around that people think are not worth advertising on the other side.
I would put a wanted thread up and look for a 9800pro. Would be a nice upgrade for the lad and still very cheap for what you get. If you are lucky you will get one of the moddable ones that can be took up to XT speeds.
I think 30-40quid should get you what you want.

Just tried out my old 9500 *which was modded to a pro* and it appears to be deadded.

If I can get it working over the weekend it's yours mate.

Nice one, thanks for that Si

Edit: and thanks to whoever removed that extra "a" from the title - it wasn't there when I typed it in but it appeared when I posted it. Weird!

Checked the 9500 out last night.

It's deaddered than a very deadded thing. Fan spins up and it boots - gets into windows and goes fubar and resets the machine.

However - found these for cheap. *so tempted to get one myself*

Straight to the bottom - 9800SE AIW for £27

For a start you're getting a good tv card... but more importantly many of 9800SE AIW's can be softmodded to 9800Pro AIW's

Sorry, only just found this. I have a Geforce FX5200 doing nothing here that you'd be welcome to. Not sure if it'd give you enough power though :/

No worries Daz - thanks for looking For the price though I may as well get one of the ones that Simon spotted.

Sounds good to me - you got a link to the softmod?
