Angry Netgear support

Netgear almost got themselves denied future custom from me, forever.

28 minutes 26 seconds on the phone to the slowest technician in the world, ever. FACT.

First ten minutes - gather my serial number, name and phone number. Most of which required to be repeated at least three times. Usually at an average of one letter every five seconds (or less).

Next ten minutes - go through all the diagnostics I'd already completed.

Final eight minutes - go ask a supervisor, ask some irrelevant questions, decide it's DOA.

I already knew it was DOA. I could have told him that. In fact, I'm sure I did.

Oh, and you can guess where he was based. Yup. That'll be India then. :undecided:

The only reason they survived a banning is because their stuff is cheap and (usually) works. I won't be buying anything more complex than a cable or unmanaged switch from them in future though.

Consumer or business support is that? Inexcusable if the latter, but probably better than most if the former (ime). Agreeing to change it in one call would astound me for cheap off the shelf kit.

Consumer. And they never agreed to exchange it. Just told me to go back to the supplier. I was fully intending to do that before the support call, but decided to give them a try.

Bad idea. I really should have gone to saynoto0870 first. Then I could have VoIP'ed them (cheap). God knows how much it cost in the end.

I currently have sitting on my floor a wireless rangemax netgear router...

My brother spent a lot of money on it and to be honest I'm less than impressed..

The USB wireless adaptor that came with it managed to make his PC (dym built with a guarantee) to overheat and lock up, the signal isn't constant despite being constant and it has an annoying flashy blue light (admittedly that can be changed)...

For the next few weeks I'm gonna test it more but when I was running it last night using my phone to browse BD either it or my phone kept dropping the connection. I can get reliability stats for the phone from feekles but unless it's an inherent problem with the M600 then the only other answer is the router.

I love netgear stuff and have been running a stable network on my old wired router for years, but if this is the best they can offer for wireless (at a high price) then I am unimpressed...
