Absolutely stunning. From what they were saying on the TV its something that rumours are he'd achieved once on his training grounds but failed on all other attempts.. nutcase. Absolute nutcase.

He doesn't even look like he's riding that hard or fast towards the ramp!

Amazing stuff, I'd never have the guts to do that... well maybe i would... but nah I wouldn't...

Not knowing anything about this I might be about to look stupid, but is that really hard? BMXers seem to do stuff like that under their own steam?

Balance, poise, balls... Whether on a motorbike or a pushbike it's damn impressive...

Remember that whilst the bike he's on is providing the power it weighs a helluva lot more than a BMX...

That was very impressive I do like watching all that sort of thing. The guys that do it on snow and ice are the real loons though.

It's impressive whatever it's done on
As Dym said, whilst he's got the motor behind him, he's also got to control quite a bit of weight.

Extremely hard, and not just that, the landing is superb. He would have won even if he'd come down rear wheel first, or front wheel first, but to land bang on together is just incredible and probably more fluke than skill! Like with high-dive the whole move is scored by a series of judges with points awarded for stuff like technical difficulty, precision, flair and landing. You can pull the best stunts in the world off in the air but enough you don't land smoothly you'll lose points.
Apparently several moto-heads have attempted this trick before; but Travis Pastrana is the first one to ever succeed at it in a competition, and somehow he's not only done that but made it look like a walk in a park.

Tony Hawk's world first of a Melon 900 looks harder to the casual observer, but you can see from the clip that Tony nearly failed to pull it off.. again its a stunt he'd been rumoured to have been working on and landed a couple of times on his training course, but it had never been seen in public.
