It's good to spread out
And with essays, I can stick the journals in one window and the essay in the other so it makes it easier for quotations.

Gaming on one screen in a window and web browser on the second full screen.
Life is good with dual monitors.

I used to play Football Manager on one screen and have a film running on the other, was great for those moments in Footy Manager when it crunches data and you have nothing to do

I've got 2 at work and 2 at home now. It was invaluable at home, and now it's the same at work because I've got several remote-controlled servers to maintain.

Exactly Handy if you have to maintain code of any sort too (not just web), as you can have the source on one side, and the compiled program/running web page/script execution on the other. Or Google so you can search for everything you dont know how to do
