My dad has become Uncle Buck

On Saturday he pulls up outside mine and turns the key off, the car carries on running for about 2 seconds afterwards. Jokingly I said that he's becoming Uncle Buck (can't find the right clip, but the car in this one will give you the idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1M2Hnhaz08 )



Well today I get home at 9:30 and both parents come and pick me up, odd

We get back to mine and "Matt can I borrow your car?"
Why?
Well.... you know the overrun that you noticed on Saturday
Yeah
I got to work and it wouldn't stop running
eh? Why didn't you stall the car?
*shuffles feet* I didn't know if it would start again

Well I let him take the Focus out for a spin as its a bit more modern than his K-reg 309. I've seen milk floats drive faster but he's clearly nervous of my car..... soon he's driving along comfortably, and getting the hang of it. Then I notice as he approaches roundabouts he's rev matching while down shifting for the roundabouts ..... interesting, I never thought my dad had that in him!

Well we are approaching a roundabout, he drops into second and spots a gap. Next thing I know he's dumped the clutch and stamped on the accelerator!!!!!

Cue torque steer, the TC sorts this out, then zOOOOOOM round the roundabout, off the side exit and its time for third.

My reaction combined with and WTF?
His reaction ..... well it was pure terror, he was rather pale

"erm ....... mine doesn't do that"
"no dad"

Thats gonna tickle me all day, provided that he can remember how to unlock it tomorrow. They are going to rip it out of him something chronic at work tomorrow, he has the oldest car in the car park by at least 10 years.

I did ask about the rev-matching, and asked if he was doing it on purpose
alas it was pretty apparent it was by accident.
