If its any consolation Matt, I am still alive and I've celebrated my tenth diabetic anniversary. It sometimes makes you grumpy when you haven't had any food and can have weird and funny effects. It is a serious condition, but you can easily live with it.

Dietwise, its better to avoid all fat, life wise, its better not to panic and think "OMG I have a life threatening condition" thats not to say it isn't serious, but don't sit there in a fit of depression.

Im probably teaching a granny to suck eggs, because if I know you, you have researched it til you know enough to become a leading expert in the field. It will take time to sink in, but don't panic. You will have to make some sacrifices (I miss candyfloss and huge bars of galaxy) but there will come a time when you will have adjusted to it and it will become second nature.

For further reading on foods, research GI (Glycemic Index). Also, if you need to chat, you can find me lurking in various shady places these days.
