Default Lambeth, Broxbourne, Woking, Basildon, Redhill.

Lambeth, Broxbourne, Woking, Basildon and Redhill. Some seemingly random place names, somewhere in or around London. I'm talking about BBC Weather.

I didn't particularly like the new style BBC Weather with its squashed out of proportion map of the UK, animated cloud cover and ticking clock on the right hand side. There's simply too much to try and look at and you can't get a good idea of what the weather is doing unless you really watch it hard and concentrate. Look over to the clock and you'll miss something and you struggle to catch back up. Back when it was isobars without the animations it was much easier.

Now the BBC have taken to using place names on their map that seem to have been randomly pulled out of a hat, so not only do you have to concentrate harder than is necessary you also have to try and decypher where the hell they are referring to.

There are only two places in that list I would be able to pinpoint on a map with any degree of accuracy. One of them because I was born there and the other just because I happen to know roughly where it is. I doubt most of London's population would be able to, especially since a large number of Londoners aren't from London and don't travel around it much other than where they work and live.

What do the BBC think they are going to gain from this and why don't they just use Westminster or the City with an outline of Greater London so everyone has a point of reference they can relate to?

I'd never even heard of Broxbourne until today, it's somewhere north of Lambeth and Redhill for anyone who's interested.
