Taken
Difficult one. Good acting with some utterly fantastic fight scenes. I feel i must focus on the fight scenes with this one because the thing is, i'm utterly fed up with this 'shakey cam' that so many action films have adopted recently. I'm not sure whether they were an excuse to allow for poor choreography or just an artistic decision but they are terrible, you can never see what's going on and it usually leaves me feeling a little ill. This film however did them perfectly, even while under the influence of a bottle of wine i knew exactly who was where and what they were doing and it was just utterly awesome for it. That said though, the story took the role of being shakey, the whole film seemed to scream 'send your young american daughter to europe and they will get kidnapped by greasy europeans!', it just didn't seem to make sense. When she was kidnapped and the dad asked the step-father 'have you got any enemies in europe?!' i thought, 'oh ok, it wasn't random, there was a premeditated motivation for her kidnap', nope, turns out it wasn't that, just greasy europeans. Great ride, but left a hint of a sour taste in my mouth. 7/10
