Glee
I'm not sure if/when this will hit the UK. Given the resounding success it's been over here I imagine it will do.
Glee is a comedy/musical/drama set around a "Glee club" (song and dance group) at a high school. It's reasonably funny with particularly memorable characters amongst it's number, but sadly dips a little too close to Dawsons Creek at times as the main plot line involving the kids revolves around Quinn (cheerleader), Finn (star Quarter back) and Puck, with Quinn being pregnant by Puck, but hiding her unfaithfulness by telling Finn he's the father. For the most part it's pretty good clean fun though, and the Dawsons moments don't occur often enough to wreck it for me. The most standout aspect of all though is the music. It's not a musical in the sense that people will just randomly burst out into a large song and dance number, the music almost all tends to revolve around Glee club practices and similar. The group of actors and actresses they've gathered together are an amazingly talented bunch, and the performances are done in generally unique styles. Not sure if you can view these (I hope so), but the standout songs for me this season: - Sadly no full video clip, they were all hyped on some over the counter drugs, dancing around like hyperactive chipmunks. - Poignant given some of the events leading up to it.
