Anybody recommend a decent (easy to use) video editing program (*.mov capable)?

Short story - Father & his partner can't film to save his/her life. HD video clips needing to be cut short (to fit Flickr duration limit) or sections removed (filming stuff that spoils an otherwise ok clip), sound mute/removed (again as something has spoiled the rest of the clip).

Rather not have to pay £££ as I'm not wanting to justify having to spend tonnes of my time patching up poor filming when I can just delete the video and they can try again.
