Xbox 360 Live through Cable TV Box

Is this possible?
My telewest TV box has an ethernet cable on the back. I've plugged a cable from the box to the xbox and its not worked. I've entered my broadband username and password into the xbox settings, but haven't entered a service name.

Has anyone achieved this, or is it impossible?
my telewest box is an Explorer 4200 DVB
