Recommend some films!

Huge sales on at Amazon & the local Virgin (and probably other places too) at the moment, so I'm taking the opportunity to build up a DVD collection (since at the moment it consists of 4 DVDs) - but I can't think of what to get, and I'd like to get suggestions to find new stuff that I haven't seen before - what should I buy? What's crap?

I know I can trust your collective wisdom, honest, yes...wisdom, that's the word...
