Projectors anyone?

My Dad's 60th birthday is coming up on March 8th and I want to get him something brilliant. He's often said he'd like to have a projector with the usual 'if I could afford to I would...' and I remember when he brought one home from work to do an assignment - he spent 2 hours working on his presentation and then spent 5 hours messing around with it.

Background stories aside, I am not quite sure where to look for something great. I'd consider most budgets as long as it isn't ridiculous, but looking to spend no more than £750 if I can avoid it. There won't be anything which requires extreme levels of detail or quality, but I would like the machine to last more than 6 months and not be tacky

It would be a plus if it could be used with PC/TV/DVD/etc at will. I don't know much about technical aspects for these machines so if someone could educate me I could say more about what I'd need
