I don't recall anyone mentioning a key figure. Mr Linderman. The guy who owned the sword Hiro wanted, collected all the paintings by Mister Eezack, and seems to know everything about everyone.

He's a mutant/evolved human too But you have to read the graphic novels to get that. He's got the power to heal himself and other people.

I'm now pondering where Claire really gets her healing abilities from... illicit affair between Linderman and Petrelli's mother? Linderman had a lot of dealings with their father (war buddies) so its possible.
