It is a lot however with the Mini (like all cars really) what you have to consider is not the overall cost but how much you will get back when you want to sell it. The Mini has some of the best residuals of any car on the market. By buying new I 'should' be able to sell a low mileage example of one of the last Supercharged Factory fitted Cooper S Works ever made (its going to a turbo engine in Novenber) in three years time for around £16k thats a net cost of £6k which is less than any other car I tested
At that point I can consider if I want to get a turbo version
So I'm not so much spending the money as investing it

That's one of the reasons i want to get a mini, even if i get a 2nd hand one for £7k, I can drive it for 3 years and sell it on for £4k. It just keep its value really well.
