Well after 3.5 months I am still the proud owner of a Series 1 Elise 111s. The market this summer has been absolutely dead due to the bad weather and it didn't help that I spent most of August in the US.
Had a grand total of five people interested in the car. 1. Had a good look around the car asked if he could take the car for an unacompanied test drive so he could show his GF. I obviously refused but offered to take him and his GF out seperately and offered to let him drive the car if he could sort out insurance. Ended up taking him and GF out for long seperate test drives (total 2 hours) and he then offers me £8k and tells me he can't go any higher. The car is advertised at £9950 so rather annoyed I tell him to (word rhyming with duck) off. 2. Guy from Birmingham is very interested but can't commit until he's sold his Westfield. After two months of mails back and forth he finally e-mails me on my work account on a Saturday asking to see the car (he has my mobile number) which I don't pick up till Monday. In the mean time he puts a deposit down on another car. 3. Guy turns up has a quick look round but decides it's too impractical (read he really wanted a Boxster). Fair enough. 4. Guy phones up from Germany, asks all sorts of questions. Never hear from him again. 5. Chap sees the for sale signs on cars, very interested and loves the test drive. Wants to buy it but wife vetos it as it's too impractical despite the fact she'll never drive it and he's just bought her a brand new £35k Discovery ![]() Going to give it till the end of the month and then stick it in storage till the spring when hopefully the market will pickup. Still it seems that my decision to sell is the right one as since I put it up for sale I've done a grand total of 600 miles in it, 200 driving it to Birmingham for the weekend, 100 miles of test drives and only 300 personal miles. |
