TV displaying wrong colours via component

Right...just fired up my xbox via vga.. first annoying thing (with my new TV) was that when i opted for 1080p it didn't display owt

then the theme was green rather than the usual orange... and in COD 4 there was a lot of green again - like when i was gettin shot, it was green around the edges.

Anyone got any ideas on how to rectify this one?
