Sky+, DVD RW and editing

I've got about 8,000,000,000 episodes of 'The Hoobs' on my Sky+ (mrs fatiain recorded them for Josh on series link).

Now there's 3+ mins before and 5+ mins after each episode, plus adverts which I want to edit out.

If I copy them all onto DVD RW and stick them on my PC, can anybody suggest some (free or cheap) software for editing the unwanted bits out?
