Phone went crazy

Today my phone decided to commit phone suicide. It's a Sony Ericsson 850i with the little touch screen along the bottom of the display.
Unfortunately something has caused the touch screen area to now take over the entire keypad area so if it is touched the middle button including pressing the buttons the enter button is pressed. Which has resulted in some hilarious blank texts being sent to random people.
Anyone heard of this happening before? I'm taking it into T-Mobile tomorrow to see what they say but wanted to know if anyone knows anything more.
