Pet Hates on XBox Live

The last few days I've had more of my main pet hate occuring: random people adding me or messaging me out of the blue without saying why or where they found my tag from.
Why?! I wouldn't add some random person for no reason, certainly not without explaining why first. Plus, in the past when I've just accepted anyone, they talk for about 5mins then never again (which has been the case for me on MSN in the past), which is why I never add anyone without knowing who they are first.

I just don't get it, and despite being not much of an inconvenience, it's still an irrational irritation

Any other pet hates for you lot?

Oh and as a disclaimer: I don't mind anyone on here adding me

It's entirely random people who I've never heard of in my life nor ever played a game with.
