The retail one I referred to also DIY, but discount was 20% or 10% on electricals and you had to be there about 6 months first, and only one other signed family member could use it.
It was a cracking job and if the money had been better, I would still have been there. Not only were the working conditions excellent but most of the rest of the staff were good too - we used to have regular Friday night piss ups and stocktaking was a hoot. However, when someone offers you the opportunity to earn more than double what your earning for doing less work, it's hard to say no

It's the only job I've had where I enjoyed stocktaking.
We would close the shop at 5 on Friday and before any counting took place, fish and chip suppers and cans of soft drink were fetched and consumed. Then at 7 PM, we would stop for tea and choccy biccies and then we would count until 9 o'clock. Most of us would then decant to the pub at the top of the road, where we would remain until 1 in the morning.

Stocktaking would recommence, albeit blearily, at 09:00 on Saturday morning. We would count for an hour or so until the trainee arrived back with a van full of greasy breakfasts in polystyrene cartons. We would count until 1 o'clock and then we would head up the road to the British Legion Club, where we would be treated to a bar lunch and beers. We would then head back down and finish up the count in the afternoon - luckily, it was mostly done by this time and we could all bugger off back to the pub by 4 usually. Great fun All of the food and drinks over the weekend were paid for by the company as well as overtime.
