and by the end of the film, due to a couple of hints throughout you are thinking "oooo... is there a sequel? I hope so... wikipedia time - woo woo!" (I believe there is so in May 2010 - looks like I have my Birthday evening planned already )

Did you spot the terrorists group was called the "Ten Rings"? That's a fairly big hint there for a future film, plus of course you'll have War Machine for certain.
Along with next Iron Man film you've got Captain America and Thor all in production / casting, you've got a reasonable Avengers line up. I don't see any indication of The Wasp or AntMan film, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be in The Avengers. Stark appeared in the latest Hulk film talking about the Avengers intiative so I'm guessing Hulk'll be in the line up (he was initially in the comic books anyway)
