Something for the Gnome users...
... and probably to KDE, xfce and Fluxbox users, this will apparently work there too though I havent tried it.
You may or not be aware of a little app called Gnome-Do - it's like a gui extension for keyboard monkeys. If you get used to it and have a play with it's extensions you can whizz around very quickly with it - opening programs, running things in a terminal, searching the web, moving/copying files, tweeting even... lots of things - even say playing all music from a certain artist or album in your music library Anyway, starting with 0.8, he has a new interafce to Do - a dock called Docky.... If you use a dock already, it's just fabulous - a brilliant combination of 2 tools, very subtle and unobtrusive but very powerful. For the buntu users there's a PPA on Launchpad, it's been very stable for me for a couple of days, and I encourage you to give it a try If you've never heard of it before I still encourage you to have a look, like I say, get used to it and you can make things happen very quickly For the Mac heads, Gnome-Do was based on a free program called Quicksilver - it obviously wont replace the dock, but the keyboard driven interface is very similar, and very powerful
