Recipe for a working Xbox
Step 1. Strip down your Xbox so only the motherboard remains
Step 2. Cover the majority of the motherboard with tin foil Step 3. Bake in a pre-heated oven (gas mark 8 or 230 degrees) for 4 minutes Step 4. Do the X-Clamp fix Step 5. Put everything back together Step 6. Smile as your previously red-lighting Xbox boots up for the first time in 3 weeks. As you can guess, I did the above and my previously dead Elite (which was showing 2 red lights within a second or two of switching on) is now working. It's currently looping the Dead Rising intro as that'll be a good stress test for it (the game renders the intro in real time). If it passes that, I'll be a very very happy boy as it will have cost me less than a tenner to fix. Keep your fingers crossed!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. |
