1 TV techically but it's not licensed for free to air so we use it for alternative input, shall we say. Plus consoles and DVDs.
The reason why people find it so natural to have one on, is because it's the cornerstone of our entertainment. Particularly for the working class, or at least was. When TVs could be afforded by all, it's the prime source because, not everybody can afford to go out and pay for other entertainment, such as the cinema, theatre, stand-up and other performances, at least not any more than once a week anyway. Having the same level (minus the atmosphere) in your own living room, is quite obviously, fantastic and it's been in many generations now that a household should have a TV and it should be watched.
