It was still only a cover for making money, however you look at it. Cowell will say whatever fits his view at the time, to justify his decisions (even if it directly contradicts what he said before). Remember, Cowell was Mr Nasty to begin with. Now he's some kind of national hero, so it's all a bit pantomime for people to say 'I've lost respect for him'. He's a businessman, and a very successful one at that. He'll say what he has to say to get the best results, he doesn't care and never really has. Look at the debate and the controversy this has provoked, it's exactly what he wanted. I do believe he loves finding new talent, but this is all a bit old hat now. He needs the ratings to stay high - which is why we have all this judging crap going on. I think if it goes to public vote it should be the public that decide, plain and simple. Anything else is just not on, really.

And Davey....Shane... really??

I bet Robson & Jerome made more than Shane did
